Frequently Asked Questions

What does Brawn Energy do?

Brawn Energy develops utility-scale, extra high voltage battery energy storage systems (EHV BESS) across Japan. We identify, develop and deliver large-scale energy storage projects that help balance Japan’s energy transition as the country transitions toward renewable energy.

Extra High Voltage BESS refers to battery storage systems that connect directly to the high-voltage transmission network, rather than the lower-voltage distribution grid. This enables significantly larger power capacity to be dispatched at a scale that can meaningfully support grid stability, absorb renewable surplus, and meet peak demand, making EHV BESS a critical infrastructure component in Japan’s energy transition.

Brawn Energy is headquartered in Shinbashi, Tokyo, with projects under development across multiple regions of Japan.

Community engagement is central to how we develop projects. We work closely with local governments, landowners and residents from the earliest stages of site selection, ensuring projects are developed with transparency and long-term local benefit in mind.

We welcome enquiries from utilities, investors, landowners and potential talent. Please get in touch via our contact page and a member of our team will respond directly.
